Specialty Aquatics - Winter 2020   

Please note that 100% attendance is mandatory for all advanced courses listed. This requirement is set out by the Lifesaving Society and the Canadian Red Cross. There are no exceptions. Pre-requisites must be met for each course.  It is patrons responsibility to ensure all pre-requisites are met prior to the course start date.  

Required Manuals are included in the price of this course.  All courses are subject to minimum registration and will be canceled if minimum is not reached.

Standard First Aid with CPR-C Sat, Feb. 1 &
Sun, Feb 2, 2020  
9:30 AM - 5:30 PM WSIB rules state that a Standard First Aid certification can only be "recerted" by alternating a full course with a "recert course".  Candidates must alternate between full courses and recertification courses.  Standard First Aid is valid for 3 years.  All Manuals are included in the price of the course. This course MUST have 6 participants to run.  $120
Airway Management Fri, Jan. 24, 2020 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM This course provides senior and experienced lifeguards with specific knowledge and training in the use of oxygen tanks, suction devices, oral airways and a variety of masks used to help those requiring supplemental oxygen. Participants must have Standard First Aid with CPR-C to take this course from one of the following providers: Lifesaving Society, St. John Ambulance, Canadian Red Cross, or Canadian Ski Patrol. $90
Health Care Provider CPR Fri, Jan. 31, 2020 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM CPR-HCP covers all aspects of CPR skills and theory for adult, child and infant victims, including rescue breathing, the use of AED's and the use of Bag Valaved Masks. This level is designed specifically for those who work as health care providers (ex. nurses, paramedics, personal support workers etc.) and have a duty to respond to medical emergencies. This is also ideal for Lifeguards looking to increase their rescue response knowledge.  $90

9:30 AM - 1:30 PM The NL recertification gives lifeguards the opportunity to demonstrate their NL skills and recertify their award. Participants must bring proof of previous National Lifeguard certification. (Need not be current) $90
Standard First Aid Recert

12:30 PM - 7:00 PM WSIB rules state that a Standard First Aid certification can only be "recerted" by the original certifying agency.  If your certification is through an organization other than the Lifesaving Society, you cannot be recertified through our programs.
Original award must be within 3 years of certification date to gain award.  Must alternate between full course and recertification course to stay current.

12:05 PM- 12:50 PM Power up your lunch hour with our Aqua Power AquaFit class! Splash into a full body workout that builds cardio, strength and stability while using the buoyancy of water to go easy on joints! Using a variety of equipment, cardio moves and interval styles, this class is sure to challenge and engage participants of all abilities!
All classes are in shallow water, with a gentle slope to accommodate individuals of all heights and comfort levels. Located on Lower Level 1 of ARC North, grab your friends, towels, and swimming attire for an experience that will leave you energized for the rest of the work day! We ask that all participants rinse with warm water and soap before entering the pool to help maintain exceptional water quality.
Program is 12 weeks, with no class on Wed. Feb 19.

Masters Swimming - Fall/Winter/Spring 2019/2020 - 3 options. 
This program is run by Queen's Athletics and Recreation in partnership with the Kingston Blue Marlins. It is designed for swimmers looking to stay active, triathletes looking to improve their endurance and technique, and Masters swimmers looking to compete. All sessions will be coached by qualified KBM coaches and scaled to accommodate various speeds of swimmers.   

PLEASE NOTE - The programs below will run with breaks that correspond to school calendar, holidays and other program bookings.

*Competitive Masters is intended for those with some competitive experience and are comfortable circle swimming with other athletes.*
