Why Movement Matters

Regular movement is essential to physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines emphasize a balanced approach to daily activity that includes physical activity, limited sedentary time, and adequate sleep. According to the guidelines, adults aged 18–64 should aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per week, including muscle-strengthening activities at least twice a week. They also highlight the importance of breaking up long periods of sitting and incorporating light movement throughout the day.

Q Move aligns with these principles by creating opportunities for students to integrate movement into their daily lives in fun, flexible ways. Whether through group walks, exploring the outdoors, recreational games, and access to resources, Q Move supports students in developing sustainable habits that contribute to their overall health, resilience, and academic success.
