Are pets allowed in Athletics and Recreation facilities?
Family pets are not permitted. However, Queen's is committed to the inclusion and accommodation of persons with disabilities. This includes the presence of Service Animals that assist visitors, students or employees within all aspects of University life including Queen's-related functions both on and off campus.
For definition on what constitutes a "service animal" please view the Queen's University Accessibility Policy "Procedures for Persons Who Use Service Animals (PDF)"
Why is Athletic Footwear required?
For the safety, hygiene, and overall wellbeing of all members and our facility, proper non-marking, clean athletic footwear is required in all fitness and activity areas of the ARC. Wearing supportive, closed-toe athletic footwear helps prevent injuries likes slips, trips, or dropped-weights and equipment accidents. It also helps keep our shared spaces clean by minimizing the spread of dirt, sweat, and bacteria. Exceptions apply in designated areas where footwear may not be appropriate or required, including the ARC pool, showers, and select studios/combat room where sock or barefoot activity is part of the instructional programming. Members are expected to follow posted guidelines and staff direction regarding footwear use in specific areas. Â
Is there a separate locker area for staff/faculty?
There is a designated faculty/staff area within each main locker room. There are showers and washrooms accessible to these designated areas.
What are locker and laundry services?
You can rent a locker within the main change rooms and the pool change rooms at the ARC. We also offer a laundry service that provides you with a fresh towel, shorts, t-shirt and socks each time you visit. You can purchase these services separately, or take advantage of our special combined services rate.
Are the locker and laundry services included with my membership?
Locker and laundry is an added service - please see our Q Services team for details.
Are there free lockers?
The ARC offers free day lockers. Please ask Q Services for a list of locations.
Note, Day lockers must be cleaned out at the end of the day. Locks left on these lockers will be removed and a $15 fee will be charged to retrieve items left in the locker.
Where's the running track?
There is an outdoor running track at Tindall Field.
What about an arena?
The arena is now a part of our future plans. A feasibility study is currently underway.
