About the Club

The Queen's Powerlifting Club is open to all students with no prior experience in powerlifting required!
If you have any interest in the sport of powerlifting, our club is a great place to learn about powerlifting rules and competitions, as well as just meet other people who love to lift some big weights.

We host weekly training sessions at a local Kingston powerlifting gym, Fort Strength Performance Centre, where you will get to train on competition-standard equipment and get tips from a lot of seasoned powerlifters who are part of the club! Beyond just the training, we also host workshop seminars throughout the year, social events to get to know other members of the club, and an end-of-year friendly competition that will simulate a real powerlifting meet.

We can't wait to see you at the training sessions!

Club Meeting/Practice Schedule:

Our club meets weekly on:

  • Sunday at 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Fall Semester: September 5, 2025 – November 30, 2025
Winter Semester: January 5, 2026 - April 5, 2026

Full Year: $90
One Term (Fall or Winter): $45

These membership fees allow us to cover the cost of weekly training sessions, social events, seminars and subsidizing mock meet fees.

2025-2026 Events:

The main event planned for the year is the mock meet, which will simulate a powerlifting meet in every aspect to give you the opportunity to get a feel for what a powerlifting competition is like. Everyone is able to compete in this friendly competition and we will make sure that you are familiar with all the rules beforehand. It's a great way to see whether you might be interested in competing in official powerlifting meets and get some practice with the whole competition routine!Additionally, our club is affiliated with the Canadian University Jiu-jitsu Association (CUJA). This affiliation gives our members the chance to travel independently to scheduled events and tournaments throughout the year. CUJA connects university Jiu-jitsu clubs across Ontario and beyond, creating a network for students to share their knowledge, skill, and dedication to the sport.
