Winter 2022 ARC Programming Details

We are looking forward to welcoming back our Queen's University students and Queen's ARC facility users. We know how integral physical activity and sport is to individual health and campus wellbeing and the sense of belonging and community that makes our campus thrive. The following is a summary of our recreation and active living return to activity and play this term. We will be operating in a hybrid format, with both virtual and in-person program opportunities. Reservations will become available 48 hours ahead of time.
 
ARC Programming
Aquatics
  • The ARC pool will open at 50 percent capacity on January 31.
  • Member lane swims can be reserved via getactive.gogaelsgo.com.
  • Swim participants may sign up for one lane swim per day at the ARC, by selecting one of the available timeslots.  Please follow the lane selection guidelines when selecting your lane. 
  • Changerooms/showers are open for facility users at this time, subject to capacity limits. 
  • Users must arrive in the first 20 minutes of their reservation - those arriving late will not be permitted entry.
  • Winter Term Aquatics Leadership and Certification Courses, such as National Lifeguard, Standard First Aid, and much more are open for registration.

  • Swim Lessons are planned to return as of February 28.
Facilitated Recreational Sports
  • For those looking to get started in playing recreational sport in advance of the Winter Term League start dates, Queen's Intramurals will be facilitating drop-in rec sports play.
  • Facility users will be able to browse the schedule of available sport activities on offer and reserve a time to come and play without the structure of established teams.
  • Play will be organized based upon who is reserved to attend, in a fun, safe, and enjoyable way.
  • Schedules and reservation will be done on our member portal at getactive.gogaelsgo.com – masks, capacity limitations, and participant guidelines of behaviour all apply.
Group Fitness Classes
  • Group fitness classes will resume at 50 percent capacity – a maximum of 12 participants per class - on January 31.
  • Participants must pre-register for classes via getactive.gogaelsgo.com by selecting one of the available times
  • Upon entry to the ARC, registrants must proceed directly to their class and exit the ARC immediately following their class.
  • Register for the Winter Term Group Fitness Pass at getactive.gogaelsgo.com for a low subsidized fee of only $30 to gain access to all in-person group fitness classes on the winter term schedule from January 31 – April or pay by the class for $4 each visit.

Personal Training
  • In-person Personal Training services can resume as of January 31.
  • If you are looking for personal training consultation and packages, a great way to set and adhere to new fitness goals and find the most effective training plan for your individual needs, you can find packages and consultation links HERE.
  • If you'd prefer to have a plan delivered virtually, Virtual Personal Training is available.
Racquetball and Squash Courts
  • Facility users can sign up for one entry timeslot to the ARC per day, by selecting one of the available timeslots. 
  • Upon entry to the ARC, members can utilize their reserved court for their timeslot and must depart the ARC following the conclusion of their reserved time.
Recreation Clubs
  • Recreation club programming will be offered in a hybrid delivery model, with some clubs offering virtual and some in-person opportunities (or both).

Winter Intramurals
  • Winter Term Intramural Leagues have been tentatively re-scheduled to start as of Sunday February 27,  in line with the University's planned timeline to resume in-person learning on campus. We had a great registration for Winter Term leagues, and more information will be provided directly to those registered team captains and participants via your Queen's IMLeagues.
  • If you are currently registered for a winter term intramural league and are no longer available and would like to remove your team, you must contact the Intramural team via email at intramurals@queensu.ca by Friday, February 18, 2022 to confirm your team removal.
  • Any team removal requested after February 18 will result in a default fine, as we would like to open opportunities up to waitlisted teams.
  • Waitlisted teams: The Intramural team will be working through the list and available opportunities and contacting captains directly. Please keep a lookout to your inboxes in early February.
  • Winter term intramural ice hockey registration will open for registration on Wednesday, February 16. Registration information and instructions can be found HERE.
