Dr. Amer Johri is an Associate Professor at Queen’s University in the Department of Medicine. He joined the Echo Lab at Queen’s University in 2010 after completing Level III training at Harvard University Medical School under the tutelage of Drs. Picard, Hung and Weyman at the MGH. He is a Heart and Stroke Foundation-funded Clinician Scientist, Founder and Director of the Cardiovascular Imaging Network at Queen’s (CINQ; cinqlab.com), the @POCUSJournal, and Queen’s Echo Fellowship Program.

He is a Board member of the American Society of Echocardiography (the world’s largest CV imaging society) and Chair of the ASE #POCUS Task Force and of the ASE Vascular Council.

Dr. Johri was co-chair of Canada’s first recommendations on the Cardiovascular Screening of Competitive Athletes, a Joint Position Statement by the Canadian Heart Rhythm Society and Canadian Cardiovascular Society. He currently leads an international writing group for the ASE Guideline for the assessment of carotid arterial plaque by ultrasound.

Dr. Johri’s CINQ Lab serves as an innovative hub for residents, medical students, undergraduate and graduate students in the sciences and engineering to work on various patient oriented research projects including:  point of care vascular ultrasound for risk stratification, cardiovascular screening of competitive athletes, analysis of vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque through 3D, composition, or machine learning methods (IntelliPlaque), and development of novel ultrasound contrast applications in the field of theranostics.  Dr. Johri’s entire CINQ Lab team proudly brings a hands-on, interactive Heart Health experience to inspire STEM in kids at Kingston’s Science Rendezvous every year.
