Minimum Playing Complements

Each team is required to have a minimum playing complement dressed and ready to go for game time. If the team doesn't meet this criterion within 10 minutes of the scheduled game time, the game will be recorded as a default loss. Officials are not authorized to make changes to the following minimum numbers.

One soccer team shows up with 9 players, the other with 15. Teams would play 11 vs 9. The team with a full squad should not be disadvantaged because their opponent showed up without enough players.Teams are encouraged to arrive early to the game, so that if you are short-handed, you have time to phone teammates to get them to the game within the 5 minute grace period.

Teams are NOT required to match on-field strength or gender make-up of the opposing team.

  • Example 1: One soccer team shows up with 9 players, the other with 15. Teams would play 11 vs 9. The team with a full squad should not be disadvantaged because their opponent did not show up with the max. amount of players.

  • Example 2: Volleyball Team A shows up with 4 males and 2 females, Team B shows up with 3 males and 3 females. Team A does not need to play down 1 male player to match Team B nor does Team B need to play down a female to match Team A.

If a team falls below the minimum playing compliment due to an ejection from that game, the game shall be automatically awarded to the opposing team. If said team is winning the current score will be recorded. If the opposing team is losing, the default score will be recorded instead.

If a team is removed from the league due to defaults, players will be allowed to join another team through transfer with the Intramural Coordinator If the following criteria are met:

  • The Team's default fines have been fully paid

  • There are enough games left in the regular season for new players to obtain eligibility for playoffs. Games played with their original team will not count towards their playoff eligibility with their new team.

Gender Ratios

In all Mixed Leagues the composition of a team can be whatever the team wants as long as they have the minimum number of females and males in the game at all times.

  • Examples: A dodgeball (7v7) team shows up with 6 males and 6 females, the can play with 5 females and 2 males, 4 males and 3 females and vice versa. As long as there are 2 males and 2 females playing at all times.

  • A tier 1 innertube team comes with 2 guys and 7 girls. They may play with any combination of players they want as they do not have enough males to exceed the maximum of 3.

  • An indoor soccer team comes with 1 guy and 2 girls. The game would be a default loss because they have not met the minimum playing compliment of 4 players.
