ARC OPENS RENOVATED AND EXPANDED WOMEN’S FITNESS ZONE ON THE 3rd FLOOR

Queen's Athletics & Recreation is pleased to announce the opening of the newly renovated Women's Fitness Zone.

Located on the 3rd floor of the Queen's Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC), the zone underwent a major renovation over the December 2019 winter break. The renovations saw the space double in size to include 4 zones for specific activities. The enhanced space allowed for a major investment in new equipment including functional trainers, rope pulling resistance machine, deadlift platform, squat machine and increased floor spaces. With the addition of top-rated cardio equipment, the Women's Fitness Zone is the latest state-of-the-art update to the ARC.

Consultations with key student leaders on campus began in March 2019 and continued through to opening day January 6, 2020. In Fall 2019, a working committee was established that included representatives from user groups, usage patterns and equipment use logs were analyzed, a survey was developed and formal dialogue continued. It provided a great sense of engagement and alignment around the priority outcomes and hopes for the newly renovated expanded space.
